Remaining concerts of 19/20 Astral In Concert season canceled

PHILADELPHIA, PA—It is with heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of the remainder of our 2019/20 concert season. This includes Timothy Chooi \ violin on Saturday, April 18 and our chamber music concert, Musical Roots on Saturday, May 2.

This decision was made in consultation with our Board and with the utmost concern for the health and safety of our audiences, artists and staff, in agreement with our venue partners and government public health recommendations. We hope to reschedule all canceled concerts in future Astral seasons.

As you can imagine, artists and arts organizations across the world are facing uniquely challenging times. Astral has decided to offset the impact on our artists by honoring our commitment to pay the artist fees for these concerts, understanding that hours of practice and planning have gone into performances that will not be seen or heard. We believe that it is the right thing to do for our artists, and is in full alignment with Astral’s mission to support the next generation of excellence in classical music.

For those who have already purchased tickets to these concerts, we would ask that you join us in supporting our artists and consider donating the cost of your tickets to Astral. These donations assist in our efforts to work in creative ways to help our musicians during these difficult times.

We are also able to exchange your tickets for another of our concerts next season or we can process a refund. To contact us, please email astral@astralartists.org or call 215.735.6999. 

The Astral staff is working remotely during this time, but have full access to email and phone messages. Please know that we will respond to all communications as quickly as possible, and appreciate your patience during this turbulent time.

Classical music is a living art and we all have the chance to support its future. Non-profit arts organizations across the world are in the same position as Astral, so if you have tickets for other performances that have been cancelled, please consider donating the cost of your ticket. Artists and non-profit organizations everywhere benefit from these small (and large) kindnesses.
