Oboist Mitchell Kuhn was recently appointed as the new acting principal oboe with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. He has been concerto soloist with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, Florida Orchestra, and served as acting Associate Principal Oboe of the Minnesota Orchestra. The past two summers, he’s served as Principal Oboist of the Grant Park Orchestra in Chicago, giving world premieres by Carl Vine and Christopher Theofonidis. He was a part of both the “Music For Life” and “Beethoven for the Rohingya: A Concert For The Rohingya Refugees” concerts at Carnegie Hall. Additionally, Mitchell has participated in the New York String Orchestra Seminar, Marlboro Music, Verbier Festival Orchestra, Music Academy of the West, National Orchestra Institute, Kent/Blossom Music Festival, National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute, and Tanglewood Institute. He earned a Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School and recently graduated with an Artist Diploma from the Oberlin Conservatory. Mitchell is a winner of the 2019 Astral Artists National Competition.
