Michael Mizrahi

A winner of Astral Artists’ 2005 National Auditions, pianist Michael Mizrahi joined Astral’s artist roster that year. Astral presented his Philadelphia recital debut, and presented him as concerto soloist with The Haddonfield Symphony (now Symphony in C) on a “Rising Stars” concert at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. He is featured on Astral’s 2009-2010 series in its inaugural Philadelphia Brahms Festival, a concert of piano trios, and a program of chamber works with Astral saxophonist Doug O’Connor. Mr. Mizrahi has appeared as concerto soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, and music educator across the U.S. and in Europe, and was part of the ground-breaking educational program The Academy: A Program of Carnegie Hall, the Juilliard School, and the Weill Music Institute (ACJW). He has appeared as soloist with the Houston Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra, Sioux City Symphony, and Prince Georges Philharmonic Orchestra, and in Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Houston’s Jones Hall. The founding member of both the Moët Piano Trio and NOW Ensemble, he was also the First Prize and Audience Choice winner of the 2004 Ima Hogg Competition and the winner of the National Symphony Orchestra’s Young Soloists Competition. Michael Mizrahi received Bachelors’ degrees in both Music and Religion from the University of Virginia and a Master’s and doctoral degree in Piano Performance from the Yale School of Music, where he studied with Claude Frank. He was recently appointed Assistant Professor of Piano at the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in Appleton, Wisconsin.
