Biography

Violinist Benjamin Beilman is rapidly gaining attention for his “impeccable” playing and “eloquence and flair” (MusicalAmerica.com). In 2010 alone, he captured First Prize in the Montreal International Musical Competition, First Prize in the Young Concert Artists (YCA) International Auditions, and the Bronze Medal at the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, and he received Philadelphia’s prestigious Musical Fund Society Career Advancement Award. A winner of Astral Artists’ 2009 National Auditions, he was also awarded the MILKA/ASTRAL VIOLIN PRIZE, designated for a violinist invited to join Astral’s roster. Mr. Beilman joins the roster of Chamber Music Society Two, beginning in the 2012-2013 season.

This season, Mr. Beilman is featured on Astral’s series in the Philadelphia Brahms Festival and as concerto soloist with Symphony in C. He is presented by YCA in recital debuts in New York, Washington D.C., and Boston. He also debuts with L’Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal under Yannick Nézet-Séguin, L’Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, and the Edmonton, Kansas City, and South Dakota symphonies. He also gives recitals for the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society,the  Montréal Bach Festival, and at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), among others.

Mr. Beilman recently released his debut album of Prokofiev’s complete sonatas for violin and piano for the Analekta label. He has been heard on National Public Radio’s “Performance Today” and “From the Top,” the McGraw-Hill “Young Artists Showcase” on WQXR New York Radio, and on Chicago WFMT’s “Impromptu.”

Mr. Beilman works with Ida Kavafian at the Curtis Institute of Music. Previously, he studied with Almita and Roland Vamos at the Music Institute of Chicago.
